The Fastest Way to Grow on YouTube When Nobody Knows You Yet

You do not need to be original or a genius to grow on YouTube from scratch. You need leverage. Here is the authority hijacking strategy that gets qualified attention fast — and turns it into clients.

If you are starting YouTube in 2026 and nobody knows you yet, most people will tell you to be original, be different, or find your unique voice.

That is good advice — eventually. But it is not the fastest path.

The fastest path is leverage. And the easiest leverage on YouTube is what I call authority hijacking — borrowing trust from people your audience already watches, and using that attention to build your own system.

I have done this on my own channel and on client channels. It works every time.

What Is Authority Hijacking?

Authority hijacking means anchoring your videos around people your ICP already trusts and already watches.

Not just random people — the right people. For example, I broke down Iman Gaji's thumbnail strategy and exactly how to copy it. People are searching his name. They are not searching mine. But if someone is breaking down his strategy, they must know something worth watching. That is the click.

I also broke down Mark Tilbury's $20 million YouTube empire — how he uses affiliate marketing and high-volume content to generate revenue. These are not just interesting videos. They are trust transfers.

When your audience sees you confidently breaking down someone they already respect, they associate that credibility with you.

Who Should You Hijack?

Not everyone is worth hijacking. Here is the criteria:

1. They must have the same audience as you. If they attract a different ICP, you will attract the wrong people to your channel. That is worse than no growth at all.

2. They must be multiple levels above you. The bigger the gap between their authority and yours, the more trust you borrow. Make sure you actually know what you are talking about when you break them down.

3. They must be known for something specific. If they are general, you are talking to everyone — which means you are talking to no one. Pick people who own a specific space in your niche.

If your ICP would not click the video, it is not good enough. That is the final filter.

How Authority Hijacking Fits Into Your Funnel

Authority hijack videos are top-of-funnel. They are not meant to sell your product or service. They are meant to introduce you — who you are, what you do, and how you can help.

Here is how the full funnel works:

Top of Funnel — Authority Hijack Videos These get the clicks. They borrow trust from established names, attract a qualified audience, and introduce you to people who have never heard of you. Always include a CTA at the end, but do not push hard. You are earning attention, not asking for money.

Middle of Funnel — Your Unique Vehicle After someone watches your authority hijack video, they need a reason to stay. This is where you talk about your method, your framework, and your way of thinking. The purpose is to keep them in your ecosystem and position you as the go-to person for your specific transformation.

Bottom of Funnel — Your Offer in Action This is where you tie your value directly to a result. Show the problems a specific client had, how you solved them, and what they achieved after working with you. A good example: "How I helped Poppy generate over $4.2K in 16 days using one YouTube video." These videos convert the people who have been watching and are ready to buy.

Top-of-funnel videos get the clicks. Middle-of-funnel videos get the trust. Bottom-of-funnel videos get the conversion.

Do not ask for the sale in top-of-funnel videos. Earn it through nurturing. That is what creates high-intent buyers — people who feel like they already know you before they ever get on a call with you.
